The Homeless Hotel 2007

Event Description
The Homeless Hotel will be located at Riverfront Park in Downtown Moncton, from 7:00 pm on June 1 until 7:00 am on June 2. For twelve hours, our guests will see how street youth live and hear their stories first hand. In the midst of learning about homelessness, guests will also have a chance to win prizes, be entertained, and meet new people.
The concept is that guests will purchase a room (Standard, Suite or Penthouse) and stay for the night. Within the park several areas are marketed with a “Hotel” theme:
Front Desk - Guests (teams of 5) will register and be assigned a numbered plot to pitch their tent.
Lobby - Guests can relax, create artwork, and watch videos on homelessness.
Lounge - Musicians, comedians, testimonials from youth, and more will entertain guests.
Kitchen – Guests will receive free bowls of soup prepared by Mobile One and the Greater Moncton Men’s Progress Club.
Trade and Convention Centre (New) - Various service providers will be on site to highlight resources available to homeless and potentially homeless people and guests will have the chance to play “The Game of Street Life.
The event is a corporate and public event whereby teams and individuals can purchase a room at the Homeless Hotel. Keys will be sold at different tiered values depending on the type of room (size of donation):

Mobile One operates seven days a week from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. It makes four 45-minute stops each night. It runs on two routes in different areas of the city, alternating each route every other day.
- Mobile One along with the Greater Moncton Men’s Progress Club will provide a late dinner and a breakfast to guests of the Homeless Hotel.
The Riverview Venturers
The Venturers program is a group of young men and women aged fourteen to eighteen. It is one of the steps on Scouts Canada’s five programs for youth. The 1st Riverview Venturer Company is now in their 20th year as a company. The Riverview Venturers will have a canteen stationed at the Homeless Hotel and opened to guests all night. They will keep all the proceeds in exchange for working clean up in the morning.
